Sausage and Gravy Video
4 link sausages
3/4 tsp browning sauce
2 TBS flour
2 TBS pancake mix
½ cup of water-divided
½ cup milk
Salt and Pepper to taste
Begin with 4 links of sausage and cut them into ½ inch pieces with kitchen shears or a knife. The links are more easily cut if they are partially frozen.
Place the sausage in a skillet over medium high heat and as they begin to get warm add ½ teaspoon of browning sauce and mix well. Once the sausage begins to brown, turn the heat down to medium.
Mix the flour into the sausage and the drippings. When the flour has absorbed the drippings add ¼ cup of water stir constantly until the water boils and the flour begins to thicken.
Next add ¼ cup of milk, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan and lower the temperature to medium low. Continue to stir constantly as the milk warms and the sausage finishes cooking. Allow the sausage to cook for 2 minutes, then sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of pancake mix over the milk and sausage. Mix well stirring constantly until it thickens.
Allow to cook for one minute, then add 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup water to think to your preference stirring well to incorporate the water.
Serve over toast or biscuits.
